Our Music Vision

To develop children's musical creativity, confidence and understanding.

Our Principles of Music Teaching

We know that great music happens in our school when:

  • Our curriculum allows children to expand their imagination and develop musical excellence.

  • Children are engaged in exciting practical lessons.

  • All pupils see themselves as musicians.

  • Children have the confidence to explore their own musicality.

  • Children are given the opportunity to learn and experiment with new instruments.

Wider Opportunities Orchestra

At Calveley Primary Academy, we are delighted to have Love Music Trust providing our Class 4 pupils with the opportunity to learn an instrument as part of an orchestra. Our orchestra includes clarinets, trumpets, trombones, baritones and glockenspiels.

Singing Assemblies

Every week on Thursday, our pupils practise their singing together. To increase children's enjoyment of singing they propose popular songs and vote as a school on what they would like to sing. Previous songs include Happy by Pharrell and Human by Rag'n'Bone Man.
