Class 2 Building Bridges

Lesson: Geography

Class: Class 2 - Year 1 / 2 Year: 2018 - 2019

Class 2 have been building bridges!

As part of our topic we have studied landmarks in the British Isles. We looked at 4 bridges in 4 countries - Tower Bridge (England), Severn Bridge (Wales), Forth Road Bridge (Scotland) and the Peace Bridge (Northern Ireland).

We worked together in teams and used mixed materials to make replicas of the bridges. We had 5 rules to follow;

1. We could only use 2 types of plastic brick - the rest had to be other materials such as newspaper, straws, paper and tape.

2. Our bridge had to be as long as the table.

3. Our bridge had to be strong enough to hold up our class teddy.

4. It had to look like the bridge we were making.

5. We had to work as a team and have fun!

Mr Torrie came in to test the strength of our bridges and all passed the test!
