Welcome to Class 1's web page!
Welcome back! I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas break.
Our topic this term is "Superheroes!" We will be talking about our favourite superheroes, reading superhero stories and exploring real life superheroes such as doctors and firefighters. In English, we will be reading "Juniper Jupiter" before creating our own superhero story. In maths, we will be looking at addition and subtraction through lots of practical activities. We will also be measuring and ordering objects by their length and height.
Children will have PE every Thursday and Active 30 will take place every day. Please make sure your child's PE kit is labelled and brought into school in a separate bag to remain in school. We do encourage all children to get changed independently so please practise this at home if you need to. I will of course help with tricky top buttons and shoes on the wrong feet!
Please make sure your reading books/green sound books are in school every Monday and numbers are in school every Wednesday.
Show and Tell
We would love the children to share something from home each week and talk about it to their class. Examples to "show" could include a certificate, something they've made at home or a leaflet or picture of a recent day trip or holiday. Children can also "tell", meaning they can just talk about something important to them or something exciting that's happened. Instead of bringing these objects into school, please email pictures of them to calveley1@actonceprimary.net. Show and tell will take place every Thursday.
Learning Journeys are updated weekly on Target Tracker Link, so please make sure to check these reguarly to see what we have been learning.
Here is a video to watch explaining how to pronounce each of the phonics sounds.
