Welcome to Class 1's web page!
This term we will be settling into school life, making friends and exploring our fantastic indoor and outdoor environments.
Our first topic is "Marvellous Me". We will be talking about ourselves, our families and our local area. In maths, we will be exploring numbers through lots of practical activities. In English, we will be learning how to read and write the letters of the alphabet, sharing stories and taking part in lots of mark making activities.
Children will have PE every Thursday and Active 30 will take place every day. Please make sure your child's PE kit is labelled and brought into school in a separate bag to remain in school. We do encourage all children to get changed independently so please practise this at home if you need to. I will of course help with tricky top buttons and shoes on the wrong feet!
Reception children are learning lots of new sounds in their phonics lessons. We are also practising blending and segmenting words, creating words using magnetic letters and writing down simple words independently. Thank you for all practising your sounds at home in your green sound book – this really will make a big difference.

Next Friday (9th October), we are taking part in "Hello Yellow" for World Mental Health Day. We are inviting the children to come in non-uniform. This could be with a splash of yellow or dressing like a sunshine for a donation of £1 for Young Minds. Please find the attached letter, this
