Teacher: Miss Moffatt

Welcome to Willow Class, our nursery and reception children learn together through play following the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. We have an engaging indoor area and a large outdoor area with lots of opportunities to explore and learn.

Children will have PE every Monday with Mr. Gibbons and on Tuesday's with Mr. Scott. Please make sure your child's PE kit is labelled and remains in school for the week. We do encourage all children to get changed independently so please practice this at home if you need to.

Please make sure your reading books and school diary is in school everyday as we try and read as much as possible. Reading books will be changed every Friday.

Summer Term
This term in English we will be exploring the story, 'The Storm Whale' by Benji Davies'. This is a story about the Ocean and friendship. We will learn new vocabulary and articulate ideas and thoughts into well-formed sentences. We will talk about the story and write our own stories. We will focus on applying Set 2 Phonic sounds independently in our writing.

This term in Maths we will be focusing on developing a good understanding of number; numerical patterns, including doubling. We will be learning to confidently count on and back to 20 and confidently recalling number facts to 20. Within this term we will also be looking at patterns, following patterns and creating our own patterns.

Take a look at our Topic Web and Knowledge Organisers to see all the exciting things we will be learning in the Summer term.

Learning Journeys
The learning journey books are updated weekly and will showcase children's WOW moments in their own personal learning journey.

How you can help at home
Read with your child every day, even if it's just for 5/10 minutes and record comments in the school diary.
Continue to read longer stories to your child, to develop their imagination and love of reading.
Encourage your child to be independent, such as zipping up their own coat, doing their buttons and carrying their bags into school.
Sing number songs together and encourage counting.
Here is a video to watch explaining how to pronounce each of the phonics sounds.
