Teacher: Miss Moffatt
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Maudsley
Welcome to Willow Class, our nursery and reception children learn together through play following the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. We have an engaging indoor area and a large outdoor area with lots of opportunities to explore and learn.
Our topic this term is "Changing Cheshire", we will be exploring our local area and looking at similarities and differences between where we live and surrounding Cheshire. In English, our class text will be, 'The Something' by Rebecca Cobb. This is a journey story and throughout the half term we will be exploring new vocabulary, learning how stories are structured and developing our own stories. In Maths we will be learning to confidently subitise, this supports children in building images for numbers to visualise and learn number facts securely.
Children will have PE every Monday with Mr Gibbons and Friday with Miss Moffatt. Active 30 sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child's PE kit is labelled and remains in school for the week. We do encourage all children to get changed independently so please practise this at home if you need to.
Please make sure your reading books and school diary is in school everyday as we try and read as much as possible. Reading books will be changed every Friday.
Learning Journeysare updated weekly and will showcase children's WOW moments in their personal learning journey.
How you can help at home
Read with your child every day, even if it's just for 5/10 minutes.
Continue to read longer stories to your child, to develop their imagination and love of reading.
Encourage your child to be independent such as zipping up their own coat, doing their buttons and carrying their bags into school.
Sing number songs together and encourage counting.
Here is a video to watch explaining how to pronounce each of the phonics sounds.
