Welcome to the second half of the Spring Term!
Our current topic is... The Extraordinary Gardener.
This is based on the book... The Extraordinary Gardener by Sam Boughton.
Our writing will be based around the book. We will concentrate on using our RWI knowledge to help us. We will also look more into sentence writing.
In maths, we will be looking at the numbers to 20! We will also look at time and patterns.
On Friday afternoon we will do PE. On Thursday morning's the class will have Miss Lewis from The Academy for Performing Arts.
The children are all progressing in their reading and it is amazing to see. We are going
to carry on using the Read Write Inc Scheme. Over this half term will be
introducing the 'reading' part that follows the phonics section. The children
will do group reading and may come home with extra books to share with you what
they have read in phonics. Please continue reading with your child it really does
make a huge impact! The also will be bringing home the reading rockets, I will
send out a separate information sheet about these.
children have begun our Read Write Inc Scheme, they have so far been taught the
'm' and 'a' sound. They will continue this during this half term. We are also going
to introduce Fred Talk!

White Rose Maths
We highly recommend using this home learning resource from White Rose to help teach your child maths at home to suit their specific year group. There are five daily lessons for each week and they provide audio teaching and related worksheets free to download for your child to complete. They suggest to spend between 20-30 minutes on each daily session.
If you want to share any of your home learning with me, then please send me an email. Include anything you want to ask or share – comments, pictures, photos and questions! The temporary class email is email@example.com.

What an amazing time Class One had at Okells Garden Centre yesterday! We were keen photographers and took lots of lots pictures of the vibrant flowers. We also became gardeners and planted a big sunflower seed to bring back to school to look after. We may potentially have some budding gardeners or photographers.
Calveley have loved World Book Day! We have all shared books and participated in a quiz about books that we would know. All of the costumes were fantastic and it was great to see the children so excited about the book characters that they came as.
