Religious Education

Our R.E Vision – we believe that Religious Education both supports and strengthens what we aim to do in every aspect of school life.

Our RE curriculum aims to be fully inclusive, exploring the beliefs, ethics, philosophy and lifestyles that Religious Education encompasses. It seeks to promote high levels of consistency in teaching and learning, while giving teachers freedom to find the best ways to help pupils engage with challenging spiritual, moral, social and cultural questions that arise in their lives and in their community.

Our Principles of R.E Teaching
We know that great Religious Education happens in our school when...

  • Children develop a broad knowledge and understanding of faiths.
  • Children understand the influence of beliefs, values and traditions on individuals, communities, societies and cultures.
  • Children are encouraged to explore and learn to communicate their own beliefs, values and experiences.
  • Children are equipped with the skills of investigation, reflection, empathy, expression and evaluation.
  • Children learn to recognise and celebrate diversity in society.
  • Children have opportunities to challenge prejudices and misconceptions.
